The Team

Dr. Bill Obert

Dr. Obert grew up locally in White Oak and attended Colerain High School.

He attended Walsh College as an undergraduate where he received his bachelor of science in Biology.

He then graduated from The Ohio State University of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.

He has been with Covedale Pet Hospital since 1999.

Dr. Obert enjoys working with cats and dogs primarily.

He also enjoys surgeries that involve soft tissue, orthopedics and the use of our laser.

To relax, he likes to spend time outdoors especially camping and fishing with his wife and three children. He also unwinds at home with his 3 cats.

Dr. Elizabeth Mancini

Growing up on the  West Side of Cincinnati, Dr. Mancini attended The College of Mount St. Joseph and then continued her veterinary education at The Ohio State University.

Dr. Mancini knew for a long time she wanted to be a veterinarian; it was about the same time she realized her dreams of becoming an astronaut or an Olympic gymnast were not as likely to come true.

She is proud to play a role in protecting and enhancing one of the true simple joys in life-owning a pet and celebrating the human animal bond.

Outside of the Covedale world, Dr. Mancini enjoys spending time with her four children and a house full of animals;  pretending to be a chef, and enjoying live music on date night with her husband.

Dr. Colleen FitzGibbon

Dr. FitzGibbon was raised in Delhi. She attended Northern Kentucky University for undergraduate studies and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992.

Dr. FitzGibbon came to Covedale Pet Hospital in April of 2002.

She mainly treats cats and dogs but also has an interest in exotic pets.

Her current menagerie includes her adorable dog “Izzy”, “Ted” the cockatoo and her feline triad "Esther", "Price" and "Hugo".

Dr. FitzGibbon’s hobbies are bird watching, gardening, and reading.

She also enjoys trivia games and all things Monty Python.

Dr. Melinda Ketring

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Ketring spent her entire college career at The Ohio State University.

She graduated in 1997 earning her degree in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Ketring joined the practice in January of 1999.

She gets to enjoy the best of both worlds by working part-time and

being a wife and mom full-time.

Her special interests include spending time with her friends and family (including her pets, of course), playing classic video games (Donkey Kong rocks!), and teaching her kids music appreciation through repeated exposure to anything by Bon Jovi.

Dr. Kim Witalis

Dr. Witalis graduated from Ross University in 1997.

In addition to working part-time at Covedale, she also puts in many hours at a local emergency clinic.

She is currently working on her specialty license in exotic mammals.

In her spare time (spare time??) she enjoys traveling, reading, diving and spending time with her multiple pets which include dogs, cats and several birds.

Dr. Amy Strabala

Dr. Amy Strabala grew up in NE Ohio where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Pre-Vet Medicine from Kent State University.

She went on to receive a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 2005 from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

She worked in general practice for over 9 years and then decided to pursue a career in High Volume High Quality Spay Neuter to help control the pet population.

She continues to help shelters and rescues by working as a medical director and surgeon, completing over 57,000 surgeries in 10 years.

She found her love and passion for surgery and joined our team in November 2022 focusing on surgery and dentistry.

Dr. Strabala and her husband have a son and an energetic lab mix rescue named Indy.
